What is the Ministry?
Providing the practical set-up that helps to facilitate vibrant Sunday night meetings with God.
What is the vision of the ministry?
To serve the students excellently by providing transport from the campuses to evening meetings, creating a welcoming and friendly environment for all at In.vision, and helping the wider In.vision team with set-up and set-down of the hall. To see the students attend evening meetings, knowing they are welcomed and part of a family.
What does it look like on a week to week basis?
Students wait at their universities for lifts to their favourite Sunday evening meeting (In.vision). They are picked up at 5.45pm and driven there by a friendly person with a driving licence. At around 6pm, the students enter a room with nice low lighting and are served tea and coffee by some more friendly volunteers. The meeting starts and they have a great time worshipping God and hearing from his word. At the end of the meeting, the lights go on, everything seems to magically put itself away and the students are driven back to their campuses. The end.
What would be involved in serving in this area?
Lifts: Arriving at either Lady Woottons Green or Kent bus lay-by, according to rota, at 5.45pm to pick up students, ensuring that everyone has a lift. Taking the students back to their universities at the end of the evening.
Refreshments: Arriving at Canterbury High School at 5.45pm to set up the refreshments table for In.vision. Serving and welcoming each student and visitor between 6pm and 6.30pm, then enjoying the meeting!! Clearing up and washing up after the meeting (please note: marigolds are not provided!) and setting down the table.
What sort of person are you looking for?
Anyone who wants to serve in student work and who loves what God is doing among our students at The City Church Canterbury. More specifically:
Lifts: Car owners with willing hearts (and driving licences) who want to serve the students by helping them get to church meetings.
Refreshments: People with welcoming and happy attitudes, who will chat to anyone and everyone (not just their mates) and serve faithfully in the small things, such as washing up!
What is the process if I want to get involved?
